Arts Explorer #1: My Creative Expression

    Hi, I am Krystal Mehmet. I am a second year student at Ryerson University. I am currently studying Early Childhood Education. I am making this blog as a helpful resource for educators. I feel this is going to be an amazing blog that will be very beneficial for myself and for all educators. This blog will be based on creativity and creative expression through the arts. What does creativity mean to me...
The word creativity means something different to each and every one of us. When I think of the word creativity I think of how an individual can express themselves in unique different ways. I believe that creativity does not always have to mean originality or actually being artistic. I believe that we are all creative individuals because we all express ourselves differently to make us stand out as individuals.
Creativity to me is another word for the talents we can express to the world, whether its competitive dance, singing, baking, visual arts, decorating etc. We all have talents that make us creative individuals.
Now, thinking of myself I believe I am a creative individual. Some of the examples I believe that make me creative were being involved in tap-dancing and photography. Throughout my childhood, I was involved in tap-dancing which was one of my greatest passions. I still regret not being able to pursue in dancing but had to quit due to a family situation. I still love to dance and I believe dancing is a way to express and relieve positive and negative emotions from your body. Secondly, throughout high school I was involved in photography. I believe capturing moments or for example capturing the first snow fall is magnificent to express and show the world and look back on. I did not end up pursing in photography either but I still love to take pictures where ever I go and show everyone what I have seen.

Left, is a photograph I had taken on my family vacation a few years ago in Bahamas. I remember standing in line leaving the island to go back on the cruise and I thought that this would be an amazing picture to have so I took it. Bottom, is a photograph I had taken last summer by the boardwalk. First off I believe this photograph is stunning. I love taking photographs because by looking at this photo I remember how I was feeling, who I was with, what the temperature was like etc.I love capturing everything and anything and expressing them.

To conclude this piece, I believe everyone is creative because we all are individuals that want to be unique. By expressing ourselves differently it really does show how creative we all really are :)!!
